On the last day of forecast Northerly winds for some time, there were very few birds to be seen on the island. A small number of finches recorded in the morning included a Lesser Redpoll, a Siskin, a Goldfinch and 35 Chaffinches. A single Wheatear was present in Henllwyn, whilst three Redwings, three Song Thrushes and a Mistle Thrush sheltered in the gardens and the Plantation. Two Snipe were seen around the Narrows in the morning.

With next to no migrants on the island at the moment, here are a few pictures of our (mostly) resident breeding birds:

Over 60 Lesser Black-backed Gulls have been feeding alongside a hundred or more Herring Gulls in the newly-ploughed North-west Fields
Several pairs of Magpies have been observed carrying nesting material towards their respective nesting sites
A couple of Great Tits continue to make use of the seed and peanut-feeders at either ends of the island
Dunnocks are also showing signs of nesting
35 migrant Chaffinches have joined the few over-wintering birds in recent days
