In a similar vein to yesterday, a blustery morning kept migrant numbers very limited, but a calmer and sunnier afternoon saw more detected as the day went on. The most obvious feature of today was Swallows, a steady stream throughout the day resulted in at least 203 logged, undoubtedly an underestimate. 120 Willow Warblers included a sizeable afternoon arrival around Nant Plantation, where at least 80 were present late in the day.

Other Warblers were limited to 27 Chiffchaffs, eight Blackcaps and two Goldcrests, with 34 Wheatears, nine White Wagtails, six Siskins and 207 Linnets also notable amongst grounded migrants. Overhead there was a bit more variety, with two Lesser Redpolls, singles of Rook and Jackdaw, 10 House Martins, a Tree Pipit and, most notable of all, the second Greylag Goose of the year!

Offshore highlights were five Puffins, five Sandwich Terns and a single Black-headed Gull, while a decent variety of Waders mostly on the Narrows included 96 Oystercatchers, 20 Turnstones, seven Whimbrels, five Redshanks and a single Ringed Plover. A Merlin was again seen on the South End, and presumably the same Buzzard reappeared after five days of absence or elusiveness.

The only insects on the wing today were a Green-veined White and a few Buff-tailed and Garden Bumblebees, while the moth trap brought in singles of Angle Shades and Dark Sword Grass. Also found in the garden were a single Slow Worm and a Wood Mouse.
