It has been a better week and a good start to March with a Red Kite on the 1st. Throughout the week there has been a Jack Snipe in the wetlands (there were two on the 4th and 5th). An increase in the number of Pied Wagtails has been obvious as the pairs return to their territories scattered around the island. The dawn chorus is now filling the air with very nice sounds in the early morning. The Firecrest is still at Cristin. Here is the detail:
Sunday 7th- A fairly quiet day with 2 Red Throated Divers off the west side and a Teal in Plas withie.

Saturday 6th- The usual Red Throated Diver was feeding with the Shags near Carreg Yr Honwy whilst a nice Male Black Redstart was in Traeth Ffynnon.

Friday 5th- A very quiet day with the highlight being a Red Throated Diver and 2 Gannets out at sea.

Thursday 4th- The first Siskin of the year was seen with 4 being up at the Plantation. In the afternoon, the first Jack Snipe to be caught and ringed this year was drag netted in the Wetlands due to it being so calm. The usual Red Throated Diver was off the West Side.

Wednesday 3rd- A very quiet day with only the single Red Throated Diver being around. Throughout the winter there has been a Chough visiting my bird table. About once every few hours a Chough with colour rings on visits my feeding table in the garden; it circles to see if there's anyone about and then dives down onto the table!
Now I bet not many people can proudly put Chough on their feeding station list!

Tuesday 2nd- A beautiful day with very calm winds brought in another scarce bird, a Male and Female Red-Breasted Merganser stopped off in Henllwyn early in the morning for a while before heading East. There was also a Black Redstart in Henllwyn with 2 Golden Plover flying high over the Narrows. The Red Throated Diver was still in its usual place.
