Tuesday 14 June 2011

The wind almost completely died down during the night, and the day turned out to be very hot and calm. Four Ringed Plovers, three Dunlins and three Curlews were around the narrows in the morning, and two Sandwich Terns were seen feeding off the west side later on. Three Grey Herons circled the island throughout most of the day, only stopping off at Pwll Cain and the north end for quick respites. A Buzzard drifted over the mountain with the south easterly, three Whitethroats, two Chiffchaffs and three Willow Warblers were in the vegetated areas and a Swift flew by with a couple of House Martins. Two Collared Doves were at Ty Pellaf.

A single Thrift Clearwing was seen on the Thrift by Ogof Hir in the afternoon.
