Fewer birds were around today, with most being residue from the large fall yesterday. In the morning, a ‘Commic’ Tern and 36 Common Scoters passed by at sea with two Fulmars, 761 Manx Shearwaters and 85 Gannets. A flock of 12 Common Sandpipers were seen by the narrows, where a Dunlin, 11 Redshanks, 10 Turnstones and a Whimbrel were also seen; the usual two Grey Herons were in Solfach. A Spotted Flycatcher was present at Nant, whilst warbler counts for the day amounted to: a Grasshopper Warbler, 17 Sedge Warblers, 8 Whitethroats, two Chiffchaffs and 200 Willow Warblers. Five Sand Martins passed through, whilst other hirundines seen included 107 Swallows and 34 House Martins. A Collared Dove and a Lesser Redpoll were the only other noteworthy birds around.
