With the wind firmly set in the west, seabirds continued to pass by the island in their hundreds, with some scarcities and rarities also among them today. A Great Shearwater off the west side at 8:30 in the morning was by far the best bird seen, although only for the lucky few who saw it. A Sabines Gull and three Long-tailed Skuas also passed by with an incredible 101 Sooty Shearwaters, 17 Balearic Shearwaters, five Common Scoters, 19 Arctic Skuas, a Pomarine Skua, eight Great Skuas, a Little Gull, five Sandwich Terns, 39 Common Terns, an Arctic Tern and two Black Terns
Despite the strong winds, there were a few decenties to be had inland too: a Melodious Warbler in Cristin Withy was by far the best passerine seen, although three Whinchats were also present. 18 Chiffchaffs, two Willow Warblers and eight Goldcrests represented the warblers seen.

  1. Hi all

Nice! Always strange how different the species composition and numbers can be compared to my session with Rhys at Porth Ysgaden this morning!

We had no scarce skuas but 16 Arctic Skua, 21 Sooty and zero Balearics etc !?!

Just a quick message to let you know that I've started a new blog
