Tuesday 27 March 2012

It was a much better day today both in terms of the number of migrants and variety of birds. The highlights of the day included the year’s first Coal Tit trapped at Cristin, three Greylag Geese over the South  End, a Lapland Bunting, a male Ring Ouzel, a Stock Dove and a Black Redstart at Nant. One Sand Martin and 238 Meadow Pipits flew overhead, whilst warbler-numbers inland saw 12 Blackcaps, 46 Chiffchaffs, 12 Willow Warblers and 52 Goldcrests. Seven Wheatears were on the coast, whilst two Song Thrushes and a Fieldfare were in the withies.
