It was a very pleasant day, with calm south-west to south-east winds accompanied by mild temperatures and frequent periods of warm sunshine. It was perhaps surprising to find that warbler numbers were very low, although this was offset by the excellent counts of other passerine migrants on the island: one Swift, 24 Sand Martins, 213 Swallows, seven House Martins, five White Wagtails, 52 Wheatears, one Sedge Warbler, one Whitethroat, two Garden Warblers, 14 Blackcaps, nine Chiffchaffs and 18 Willow Warblers were the final tallies. Waders once again featured well, with the highest year count of Bar-tailed Godwits and Whimbrels was made, with three and 34 recorded respectively, whilst two Ringed Plover, six Dunlins and five Curlews also seen.

Dunlin numbers are gradually increasing, and one or two have been trapped during night-time wader lamping
Linnets

It has been a good couple of days for Garden Warblers, with at least two today
