Sunday 1 May 2016

A particularly grim introduction to May as rain hammered down from dawn until late afternoon where upon it was replaced by thick fog. Needless-to-say censusing migrants wasn’t the most productive. Totals for the day amount to five Red-throated Divers, one Dunlin, 21 Whimbrels, one Common Sandpiper, 12 Turnstones, two Swifts, 18 Swallows, eight Wheatears, one Grasshopper Warbler, two Chiffchaffs, 11 Willow Warblers, two Goldcrests.
