Saturday 14 July 2018

Saturday changeover meant that we had to say goodbye to a small but fantastic and enthusiastic set of guests. We welcomed on a 'tried and tested' bunch of regular guests that included Val Archer as well as Richard & Margaret Leggit. Also joining us this week is Eve, a placement student from Atlantic College with a budding passion for the outdoors and conservation. Eve will be getting involved with the day-to-day bird work, moth trapping and any practical work that form the main bulk of the assistant wardens' working day at this time of year.

Today's bird sightings included a Fulmar, 1200 Manx Shearwaters at sea, the Grey Heron, a Kestrel, a Lapwing, two Dunlins, a Whimbrel, a Curlew, three Redshanks, a Common Sandpiper, a Turnstone, five Black-headed Gulls, a Common Gull, a Little Owl, 12 Swallows, six House Martins, two Stonechats, two Wheatears, a Song Thrush, two Sedge Warblers, a Whitethroat, a Chiffchaff, four Willow Warblers, three Chaffinches and 13 Linnets.

It was yet another sunny day. From dawn...

... until dusk. It just doesn't seem to rain on Bardsey anymore.
