Another stunning Day on Barsdey with temperature breaking 20oc.

With the Arrival of some University students on a partially funded week, more eyes resulted in more birds. New birds for the year included one Greenfinch at the observatory, one Bar-tailed Godwit around the Narrows, one Lapwing at the lighthouse and three Yellow Wagtails around the South end.

Finches were a theme of the day with good counts including 14 Goldfinch, 43 Linnet, ten Siskin, the already mentioned Greenfinch, seven Chaffinch and 26 Lesser Redpoll. Warblers were in smaller numbers with only 35 Willow Warblers, three Grasshopper Warblers, two Sedge Warblers and two Common Whitethroat. Other counts of interest included four Rook, one Tree Pipit, eight House Martin, 31 Sand Martin, 28 Swallow, one Short-eared Owl at the south end, one Sandwich Tern, a big increase to 32 Whimbrel and two Kestrel.
