It was yet another windy day, with gusts up to 35mph from the SWW. A walk to the North End in the morning didn't produce much in the way of variety, lots of Meadow Pipits were flitting about in the North-west Fields, about 30 were amongst the heath at the North End, all different shades of buff at this time of year, some adults appearing really pale and always worth double-checking in case they are something else.

At the North End gull colony, quite a number of juveniles were on the wing, some of which were carrying the rings that we had put on the in the last couple of weeks, so hopefully, they will live a long time and get re-sighted many times...

The afternoon was spent slowly getting the Obs ready for guests, but more importantly, George had his hair cut by Emma. This resulted in a bit of drama as Emma lopped off a bit too much from his fringe! It was eventually saved and he won't be wearing a hat everywhere he goes for the next couple of weeks, so that's something!

Henllwyn in the evening produced seven Whimbrels, three Curlews, one Redshank and a Black-headed Gull, as well as the usual supporting cast of Oystercatchers. The sun managed to come out in the evening, too, and even though the wind was still blowing strongly it was a good evening to sit and watch the wildlife making a living amongst the seaweed.

In the evening, the Obs staff all gathered for a curry night which went on into the early hours..!
