The weather was calm and warm today. Stuart opened up the nets in the Observatory garden first thing. Although it was quiet there was good variation with a female Linnet, juvenile Stonechat and a Sedge Warbler that was first ringed in the Withies in 2017.

Juvenile Stonechat

Stuart and Megan led a guided walk with guests and showed them species of interest including seabirds, Golden Hair Lichen and Sharp Rush

It appears that a few species are on the move post-breeding with 24 Woodpigeons flying over the Island in the afternoon and four Collared Doves at Ty Pellaf. A late Sand Martin was also seen on the West Coast.

Birds today: five Fulmars, 11 Gannets, one Buzzard, two Whimbrels, two Curlews, four Turnstones, 34 Woodpigeons, four Collared Doves, one Sand Martin, 15 Swallows, 10 House Martins, one White Wagtail, 12 Sedge Warbler, two Whitethroat, three Chiffchaff, one Chaffinch, three Siskins, 11 Goldfinches, eight Lesser Redpolls
