Today was a day of 50-60mph wind and sideways rain that persisted from first thing in the morning until the evening! Hard to believe the change in weather that can occur in 24 hours, yesterday felt positively summery! Never mind, at least it's good for the well!

What a difference a day makes!

As imagined, it was not a great day for birding, although the winds being from the south may have an effect on birdlife later in the week, hopefully. There were three Sanderling on Solfach which was a nice little arrival, they were accompanied by a Dunlin and 12 Turnstones

A Chiffchaff was ardently singing away in the obs garden for most of the day, battling the gales to do so! But everything else was very quiet, nothing was to be heard on a walk around Nant and the Withies. Meadow Pipits and a Wheatear were flushed from the ground, however.

The Withies are bursting into life with all the heat and moisture lately! A great food source and nesting habitat for birds on the island

Birds today: one Gannet, three Sanderlings, one Dunlin, one Whimbrel, 12 Turnstones and one Chiffchaff
