The weather continues to be hot and calm. This morning the census provided the first Grasshopper Warbler of the autumn. Waders are a current highlight with 39 Curlews and 12 Redshanks roosting on Carreg yr Honwy and two Whimbrels, one Common Sandpiper, three Turnstones and a Dunlin on the Narrows.

The moth trap continues to provide surprises with another first for the island today in the form of a worn Shaded Broad-bar. Other highlights were the first Ruby Tiger, Lesser Yellow Underwing and Dingy Footman of the year.

Steve and Stuart led a guided walk today to look at the Manx Shearwater chicks whilst undertaking the weekly growth rates. Many now weigh as much as the adults and are almost too big to squeeze out the burrows!
