After the lovely weather yesterday it was back to high winds and drizzle throughout the day. The poor weather meant that there were few birds seen during the brief periods of census with the best being a nine Common Scoter along the West Coast.

Most of the day was spent doing admin or cleaning and painting ready to open up as a hostel next week. Stuart was entering Manx Shearwater ringing data online and one of the retraps was first ringed as an adult in 1990, making it at least 34 years old.

Birds today: 11 Fulmars, seven Gannets, two Grey Herons, nine Common Scoters, three Whimbrels, 41 Curlews, 12 Redshanks, one Common Sandpiper, 44 Turnstones, two Collared Doves, one Whitethroat, two Willow Warblers
