Monday 20 September 2021

It was another sunny day with a good amount of visible migration overhead. 15 Skylarks, a Yellow Wagtail, four Grey Wagtails and 39 Pied / White Wagtails flew over during the morning. The narrows is the place to be at high tide for the wader roost. This morning there were 52 Oystercatchers, 69 Curlews, 12 Purple Sandpipers, 9 Redshanks, 58 Turnstones, a Dunlin, Grey Plover and a Common Sandpiper.

Seawatching today produced a redhead Red-breasted Merganser, two Common Scoter and a Great Skua.

Moth mornings are very quiet at the moment due to the bright full moon - the light given off by the trap is not attractive enough! A single Lunar Underwing was recorded this morning.
