The day began for some of us whilst it was still dark; Fiona was up and out at 5am photographing the lighthouse and the full moon!

An early start...

As dawn broke it was grey and partly overcast, but after while the clouds parted and we saw our first bit of blue sky for days.

beautiful blue skies!

well that didn't last long!

...alas, this was not to stay overlong as an hour later we were left with 100% cloud and some more heavy downpours. At least the well is full and overflowing now!

Jeff, Richard and Alison did some seawtaching from the Observatory and counted a good number of Razorbills and other seabirds. Jeff and Rich using clicker to count the Razorbills and Gannets.

A small arrival of finches was noted, with Brambling buzzing in the garden, Redwings overhead and at least six Blackcaps visible at once from my office window as I wrote yesterday's blog post!!

A Manx Shearwater flew along the west side of the island, as did 284 Gannets, six Common Scoters, and 416 Kittiwakes. Two Mediterranean Gulls were in Solfach along with 25 Black-headed Gulls, 187 Herring Gulls and four Lesser Black-backs. Just over 2200 Razorbills were counted.

On land four Skylarks headed south, a Black redstart was seen at Ty Pellaf. During the dat 20 Redwings were seen and after dark 37 birds were estimated heading south calling overhead between 20.30 and 23.45.

The Blackcap total at the Observatory was probably just into double figures, with of which were trapped during a brief lull in the wind in the afternoon. Six Chiffchaffs were seen and 14 Goldcrests.

Finches included 39 Chaffinches, one Brambling, 20 Siskins and 43 Goldfinches.

Late evening I  took some slow lomg-exposureimages. It is hard to believe these were taken at 11.30 at night!
