Lighter winds today led to both arrivals and departures of various species. Most notably,
Sedge Warbler numbers increased to 14 whilst
Wheatear numbers dropped to 89, with very few of the Greenland race being sighted relative to the last couple days. A
Red Kite was seen drifting over Nant, a
Stock Dove flew over Cristin, and the fist
Mallard ducklings were seen on Pwll Cain! Other bird highlights of the day were a
Grasshopper Warbler, a
Rook, a
Lesser Redpoll, a
Curlew and a
Buzzard.

Passerine migrant totals remained fairly steady, with 45 Blackcaps, 60 Willow Warblers, eight Chiffchaffs, four Whitethroats, 10 Sand Martins, 29 Swallows and seven House Martins.
Today was the most productive day of ringing so far this year, with 58 birds ringed in total, comprising of a Swallow, five Sedge Warblers, 19 Willow Warblers, 24 Blackcaps, five Chiffchaffs, a Whitethroat, a Woodpigeon and two Goldfinches. The highlight was a control Goldfinch, originally ringed in Basque Country in Spain!

The moth trap yielded few moths last night, but the first Chinese Character of the year was seen!
