Light northerly winds were accompanied with blue skies and warm sunshine, until the wind picked up later on. There was little turnover in terms of migrants, with the highlights being a Hooded Crow, a Spotted Flycatcher at Nant, and two Common Sandpipers. However, the most exciting moment of the day came when a Peregrine Falcon bolted over the Wetlands and was seen snatching a Whimbrel out of the air! Other migrant totals for the day were four Whitethroats, 36 Swallows, a Sand Martin, six Sedge Warblers, three Willow Warblers, and two Blackcaps.

More of the day was spent around the East Side as we continued with the Chough monitoring work. Whilst we were round there, we placed some new Storm Petrel nest boxes in the hope that some more take up residence on the Island! On the way back to Cristin we also did a count of Lesser Black-backed Gull nests and eggs.

In terms of non-avian species, butterfly numbers are slowly starting to pick up as six Green-veined Whites, two Small Coppers, and a Small Tortoiseshell were recorded today.
