Sunday 24 July 2022

The weather continued in the same vane as the yesterday with strong winds and grisly lashes of rain throughout the day. Gaps in the poor weather allowed for some birding, producing the continuing juvenile Marsh Harrier, a Knot on Solfach (2nd for the year), a Lapwing on the Narrows, 12 Whimbrels, four Curlews, six Redshanks, four Black-headed Gulls, four Willow Warblers, two Whitethroats and a Song Thrush at Nant.

Most of the day was spent inputting data and making preliminary calculations for the hatching success of Manx Shearwaters. So far, it seems that 70% of the monitored burrows have successfully hatched, so we'll continue monitoring to see how many of those then fledge.
