Strong winds yesterday cleared enough to allow us to welcome North-east Norfolk Bird Club to the Island for a week.
A small increase in passerine numbers in the calm weather produced four Tree Pipits, a Pied Flycatcher, two Goldcrests, six Willow Warblers and four Blackcaps.

There was an increase in gulls mainly around the South End and Narrows today due to a large emergence of flying ants; this produced 26 Mediterranean Gulls, four Black-headed Gulls, six Common Gulls, 187 Herring Gulls, 16 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 14 Great Black-backed Gulls. Amongst these were two colour-ringed adult Great Black-backed Gulls; one from the Calf of Man and one from Skokholm.

On the same note, one of our Lesser Black-backed Gull's ringed one the North End on the 26/6/22 was resighted on Santa Cristina Beach, Spain on the 20/8/22 some 673 miles away! This became the first resighting of a Lesser Black-backed Gull ringed on Bardsey ever!
