Tom and Joel spent the day doing a couple “ob” jobs, namely attaching a television to the information board in the gift shop and building a new set of steps for the withy at Nant.

A pair of Broad-Bodied Chasers were seen at Nant, whilst installing the withy steps.

At least 1000 Manx Shearwaters were seen moving along the West Coast. A Grey Heron was seen in the Lowlands. Seven Shelducks and three Mallards were detected across the island today.

A male and a female Sparrowhawk were seen around the island, a Peregrine was seen over the mountain. A Whimbrel was present on the West Coast, 92 Oystercatchers were the only other waders present. Two Sandwich Terns were seen flying along the South End.

13 Swallows and no House Martins were recorded today. A Pied Wagtail was seen at Ty Pellaf.

Yesterday’s Firecrest remained singing at Cristin, where it worked itself into the Heligoland trap and was subsequently ringed, a 2nd bird was also heard calling in the Withies. Two Sedge Warblers were singing with one around Ty Pellaf reedbed and the other at Pwll Cain. Eight Chiffchaffs were recorded, mainly at Cristin. A Spotted Flycatcher was present at Nant.

One each of Chaffinch and Goldfinch were recorded today, along with four Linnets.
