A marginally better day bird-wise saw a few new birds on the island. The first
White Wagtail of the year arrived rather belatedly, and was feeding on Solfach with a
Wheatear in the morning. The first
Mistle Thrush of the year was seen at Nant in the afternoon, along with a
Fieldfare, two
Song Thrushes, nine
Chiffchaffs and 13
Goldcrests. A
Red-throated Diver and 11
Common Scoters were the highlights of sea passage.
A single Wheatear showed very well on Solfach, occasionally filling the frame! (lower)
White Wagtails usually arrive in mid-March, however, this is the first one of the year for us
Goldcrests continue to feed in small numbers in the Plantation
Oystercatcher
