The stormy conditions continued during the 20th and 21st, with thunder and lightning accompanying the rain storms on the latter of these days. Most birds were keeping a low profile, although waders were present in good numbers on both days. A
Whimbrel continued to fly around with the flock of 55
Curlews, whilst 12
Purple Sandpipers braved the wave-battered rocks of Henllwyn. A small passage of
Kittiwakes on the 21st saw 178 individuals passing the Narrows, and a first-winter
Little Gull was also seen amongst them. One
Red-throated Diver, and well over 1500
Auks also flew South.
