With stronger south-westerly winds prevailing throughout most of the day, a deficit of passerine migrants inland turned most attention seaward. There was a reasonable selection of species on offer: singles of
Red-throated Diver,
Great Northern Diver and
Pomarine Skua were recorded, along with three
Arctic Skuas, a
Great Skua, five
Common Scoters, two
Sandwich Terns, 126
Gannets, seven
Fulmars, 101
Razorbills and two
Puffins. Six
Skylarks, three
Swallows, 153
Meadow Pipits, a
White Wagtail and two
Blackcaps were seen inland.
This first winter Redshank was trapped in Solfach overnight, and is the first to be caught and ringed since 2012
There have been plenty of migrants Robins around
