The scorching and cloudless weather continues and the forecast shows no end in sight! With the conditions as they are water supplies are beginning to drop, leaving most of the pools across the island with no more than a few litres of water in them. Today saw a surprising number of migrants considering it’s still early July. The highlight was probably an unseasonably early Sooty Shearwater past the West Coast of the island, along with 521 Manx Shearwaters and 20 Gannets.

Waders continue to slowly build in number as well today we logged six Curlews, one Redshank, four Common Sandpipers and a Turnstone. Just a single Swift made its way over the island today, whilst hirundine numbers accumulated to 22 Swallows and six House Martins. Finally, a single Chiffchaff was seen.

Some dedicated Storm Petrel ringing last night and early this morning produced six new birds and a retrap
