Small Copper |
The number of small migrants was also more noticeable than in previous days with three Sedge Warblers, one Whitethroat, six Blackcaps, three Chiffchaffs and four Willow Warblers. There are also more signs of breeding with eight small Mallard ducklings on a pond in the Wetlands and three recently fledged Dunnocks in the Observatory garden.

Due to the change in Coronavirus rules the first guided Meet the Manxies walk was run. It started at 22:00 with what seemed like the whole island (18 people) turning up and staying in their socially distanced house 'bubbles'. After a quick talk we headed up to Pen Cristin and were lucky enough to see a few Manx Shearwaters and bright stars on a dark cloudless night.
Birds today: 19 Gannets, one Merlin, 11 Whimbrels, two Turnstones, one Skylark, three Sedge Warblers, one Whitethroat, six Blackcaps, three Chiffchaffs, four Willow Warblers, one Goldcrest, 18 Goldfinches, two Lesser Redpolls
