A gentle northerly kept the temperature down slightly today, although it was still sunny and very warm out of the wind.

North Wales saw a small passage of Greenshanks today and fortunately, Bardsey was not an exception as one flew high above the Narrows in the early morning. This is a sure sign of return passage and lets us know that autumn is slowly on its way. Greenshanks are a scarce passage migrant here, so always worth reporting if you visit the island and may feel inclined to overlook them.

The other star bird of the day was a Mistle Thrush that was seen on the ringing hut roof before calling twice and flying into the garden, again, this is quite an unusual bird to see on the island and worth reporting if you ever visit, as there are only several records per year.

The day was spent cleaning and welcoming the new guests to the obs, as well as Megan and Stuart who have returned after the week-long holiday.

Birds today: five Gannets, three Grey Herons, four Curlews, one Redshank, one Greenshank, 14 Collared Doves, one Mistle Thrush, 25 Starlings and three Siskins
