The weather continues to be unsettled with strong winds from the West today. There was also a brief thunderstorm with big hailstones! Rain overnight also meant that moth trap was not put out and moth morning called off.

Yesterday Stuarts friend Jenny arrived for the week to get involved with some ringing. This morning was spent out with the spring trap to try and catch Wheatears. A family with three juveniles was found on the South End and one was ringed.

It was a quiet day with a Greenfinch in the Withies, Tree Pipit at Nant and a Sanderling on Solfach being the highlights. The number of Willow Warblers moving South remains slow with only ten recorded today.

Birds today: 14 Gannets, one Sanderling, three Whimbrels, six Curlews, four Redshanks, two Common Sandpipers, 18 Turnstones, two Black-headed Gulls, eight Collared Doves, one Tree Pipit, ten Willow Warblers, one Greenfinch
