The rain started early today and there were a few breaks to get out and about. Stuart spent most of the doing report writing as it couldn't be saved for a different rainy day. Steve and some of the guests were seawatching from the Obs. The totals were good with 29 Common Scoters, 14 Arctic Skuas, one Long-tailed Skua, six Great Skuas, two Mediterranean Gulls and 1020 Kittiwakes.

There were still very few migrants arriving with the strong southerly winds making heading back to Africa difficult. One Swallow, a Blackcap and a Chiffchaff were seen at Nant and a lone Wheatear was at the South End along with the Snow Bunting. A Barn Owl was a surprise for one of the guests as it flew out of the plantation at 11am as he took shelter from the rain.
Birds today: 151 Gannets, one Grey Heron, 29 Common Scoters, one Sparrowhawk, one Buzzard, five Purple Sandpipers, two Dunlins, 36 Curlews, five Redshanks, 47 Turnstones, 14 Arctic Skuas, one Long-tailed Skua, six Great Skuas, two Mediterranean Gulls, 31 Black-headed Gulls, 1020 Kittiwakes, 1709 Razorbills, eight Collared Doves, one Barn Owl, one Swallow, one White Wagtail, one Wheatear, one Blackcap, one Chiffchaff, eight Goldcrests, one Snow Bunting.
One of the Purple Sandpipers were colour-ringed and probably originates from Norway. Ed managed to get some photos of it.
