Continuing westerlies and overcast skies made for a quiet morning of birding, but in the afternoon it picked up with a smart male Black Redstart at Ty Pellaf, and a Merlin round the East Side. Persistence in the search for Jack Snipe also paid off today as one was flushed from the Wetlands! Four Snipe were also seen during the process.

Other bird highlights for the day included five Ravens over the Wetlands, three Peregrine Falcons, a Grey Heron on the West Coast, two Willow Warblers, and a new unringed Whimbrel at Solfach (the other one was colour ringed here!).

Non-avian highlights included the first Harbour Porpoise of the year, seen off the East Side whilst conducting Chough monitoring work. The moth trap was pretty quiet and yielded 6 moths of 3 species, including two Red Chestnuts.
