After an incredible day previously the plans were set: get out early, see what stuck and find what else had turned up. A fresh in Siskin & Chaffinch in the Obs garden seemed promising. However, unfortunately it seemed like the Thrush nightingale, Bluethroat, Golden oriole, Turtle dove & Wood warbler had all departed overnight. An initial search of the island revealed very few migrants, alas the Siberian Chiffchaff was still singing its heart out from Nant Plantation. Also at Nant were two Spotted Flycatchers, a Collared Dove and a Garden warbler. A walk through the Withies and wetlands didn’t reveal much more, a Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler were all that was new.

On arrival back to the Cristin Ed saw a red-tailed bird flicking in the Heligoland, drove it to end to reveal it was a 1st summer male Black Redstart! Yet a further search of the island didn’t reveal much more. Six Dunlins were on Solfach and a Swift over Cristin with a mixed flock of hirundine. Ollie took some of the guests around the island for a guided walk, showing them some of the rarer flora the island has to offer. Whilst Ed and Joel headed around the East side to colour ring more Shag broods. This was brought short by an incoming storm which dropped a Buzzard into the island, appearing to roost. Everyone was then treated to a lovely light display by the thunderstorm from the comfort of the warm, dry Cristin.
