Dropping wind speeds resulted in a good day for species diversity and produced some nice highlights.  A Common Rosefinch dropped in behind the Schoolhouse with four Chaffinches in the morning, a Twite was found on the South End, a Lesser Whitethroat was in Cristin Withy, a Black-tailed Godwit was seen in Henllwyn, and a 1CY Sabine's Gull was the highlight of the seawatch.

Gull passage was the most notable aspect of today's seawatch with 22 Mediterranean Gulls, 22 Common Gulls, 160 Black-headed Gulls, 400 Kittiwakes, and 74 Herring Gulls logged. Other species seen were three Arctic Skuas, 167 Gannets, 500 Razorbills, and a Sandwich Tern. 30 Common Dolphins were also sighted offshore.

It's getting to the time of year now where more and more birds are starting to migrate to wintering grounds, especially finches, larks and pipits. On certain days it can provide us with some good visible migration (vismig). At Pen Cristin this morning, there were 62 Skylarks, 18 Chaffinches, 29 Alba wagtails, 154 Goldfinches, 26 Swallows, and eight House Martins recorded heading south.
