Today's weather can only be described as awful, with strong southerly winds and heavy rain during the day. Bird life was in short supply with 41 Whimbrels, a Curlew, a Purple Sandpiper, two Common Sandpipers and seven Turnstones around the Narrows. Two Collared Doves toured the Island, with a Grasshopper Warbler at Cristin, a Sedge Warbler in Ty Pellaf Reedbed and a Goldfinch over. Two House Martins and 12 Swallows and 13 Wheatears were also recorded around the Island.
Ringing last night produced another Whimbrel, a Common Sandpiper, six Wheatears, three Oystercatchers and a Moorhen.

We have recently heard back from the BTO about birds caught here that were already ringed. This included a Siskin caught here 26 March and ringed in Hertfordshire 17 days before and a Goldcrest caught here on 1 April having been ringed on the Wirral only five days before!
