As the strong wind continued, most of the day’s best birds were to be seen passing off the west coast. A Black-throated Diver (a late addition to the island year list) was the highlight, while other noteworthy species seen included an Arctic Skua, a Red-throated Diver, a Fulmar, five Manx Shearwaters and two Mediterranean Gulls. Five Black Redstarts were on the island, as well as the Bar-tailed Godwit, a Fieldfare, 22 Skylarks, four Blackcaps and seven Chiffchaffs. 200 Chaffinches were still around the sunflowers, as were 30 Greenfinches, 14 Siskins, 12 Goldfinches and a Redpoll.
