A glorious day with little wind and plenty of sunshine provided an opportunity to keep the observatory mist nets open all afternoon. Bird numbers had fallen from the previous day but there was still plenty to be seen. 11 Blackcaps were counted around the island along with 43 Chiffchaffs and 28 Willow Warblers

Nine Wheatears had arrived, and two Redwings, a Lesser Redpoll, two Siskins, four Skylarks and six Goldcrests were also logged. Five Rooks arrived above the island with a flock of 25 Carrion Crows and a trickle of hirundines comprised 22 Swallows, 20 Sand Martins and a House Martin. Three Buzzards and two Merlins were present, as well as the Snipe and Jacksnipe from the previous day. The prolonged ringing session was slow but steady with small numbers being caught all day.
