Thursday 2 September 2010

With the easterly winds continuing, today proved to be another half-decent day. A total of at least 3 Lapland Buntings were seen. A couple Firecrests and a Greater-spotted Woodpecker had also arrived. Grey Wagtails, a few Tree Pipits and a Yellow Wagtail moved through whilst the Tree Creeper was still present at Nant. The Melodious Warbler at Cristin was trapped and ringed by mid-morning.

Two Lapland Buntings fed on the maritime heath throughout most of the morning.

The Tree Creeper that was ringed two days ago continues to call and feed in the plantation. (c) Ben Porter

Two Buzzards have been flying around recently, half the time at least five Carrion Crows have persisted to harass the poor birds. (c) Ben Porter

An adult Sandwich Tern seems to spend half the day flying back and forth from either Solfach or Henllwyn with fish in its bill to feed a screeching juvenille. (c) Ben Porter
