The highlights of the day so far have been a Firecrest at Cristin and a Redstart at Ty Nesaf. A couple of Yellow Wagtails are around and yesterday's Treecreeper has relocated to the plantation. In the early afternoon, a Melodious warbler was found in the sycamore behind Cristin which, despite proving to be showy at times, refused to fly into the mist nets and completely disappeared towards late afternoon.

Linnets have been flocking into the oat fields and sunflower patches with some groups reaching over 80.

After hauling the moth trap and a 12-volt battery up the mountain the previous day, the efforts were rewarded with 324 moths caught, 135 of them being Heath Rustics(above). Other species included a Chevron, Common Wainscot, Anomalous and a Mouse Moth. (c) Ben Porter

  1. Yet another great photos. Could we have a Friends vote for photo of the month? The photographer who scores most points in the season (March to end of October) wins the Prize.

    Best Wishes to you all
