Another beautiful clear day with light easterly winds looked promising for some passerine migration, but it actually turned out to be a fairly quiet day. A Treecreeper in Cristin Withy was the highlight, and an addition to the island year-list. Two Lapland Buntings were in the arable fields, a Yellow Wagtail and a Little Egret (presumably one of the previous day’s birds) were on the Narrows and visible migration consisted of 200 Swallows, two Sand Martins and a Tree Pipit. Six Chiffchaffs, six Goldcrests and five Willow Warblers were busy searching for insects amongst the foliage at Nant, a Sanderling was seen on Solfach and a Great Skua flew by in the evening. Migrant Hawker dragonflies continued to arrive, with at least five dotted around the island.
