The short respite from the weather continued until the afternoon, providing opportunity for a few birds to be found. A seawatching session produced three Great Northern Divers, a Red-breasted Merganser, three Eiders and two Little Gulls amongst the commoner species, while the landbird highlights were a Snow Bunting, a Firecrest and a Woodcock. 99 Skylarks passed overhead, a Blackcap, two Chiffchaffs and 12 Goldcrests were in the gardens, the Starling flock contained about 850 birds and a Reed Bunting, 90 Chaffinches, seven Bramblings, 15 Greenfinches and six Siskins were counted around the island.
