Tuesday 28 December 2010

The wind eased during the night and thick fog took the place of the rain. Few birds were about, the highlight being two Grey Plovers on the narrows. Other waders also took to the narrows and fed with a flock of fifty four Herring Gulls on the pools that were formed over-night: three Ringed Plovers, three Golden Plovers, 28 Lapwings and three Dunlins were seen. Inland, a stable amount of Snipe remained with 86 flushed, a Jack Snipe and 21 Woodcocks were scattered elsewhere. Seventy two Skylarks were seen with the majority continuing to feed in the ruins field by Ty Capael.
