An even more miserable day than yesterday saw an increase in the southerly wind which reached gusts of at least 40 km/h. This meant that, at high tide, a predominant feeding flock fed in Solfach. Today’s totals came to: an adult Little Gull, 104 Black headed Gulls, 16 Common Gulls, 348 Herring Gulls and 120 Kittiwakes. A few ducks sheltered amongst the rocks and inland with three Teals, a Shelduck, five Wigeons and ten Mallards seen. Waders also avoided the enormous waves: two Ringed Plovers, three Golden Plovers, a Grey Plover, 25 Lapwings, two Dunlins and a Whimbrel were seen. Inland, 107 Snipe and 24 Woodcocks were flushed.
