The wind turned to the south-west and brought with it the milder temperatures and some rain. Two Grey Plovers had arrived during the night and spent the high tide in Solfach feeding with the usual waders. The plovers continued to feed inland with today’s counts consisting of: eight Golden Plovers, twenty one Lapwings and four Ringed Plovers with six Dunlins accompanying them. The Stock Dove was seen around the farm today whilst thrush counts came to: eleven Blackbirds, two Fieldfares, twenty three Song Thrushes and a Mistle Thrush dotted around. The Firecrest was in Plas Withie whilst a Jack Snipe was in the wetlands with fourteen Common Snipe.

Typically told by it's smaller size and lack of pale bands on the wings, this Stock Dove, though a bit drab, was a first for this year. Pictures (c) Ben Porter
