Despite a chilly start, the sun broke through the clouds by mid-morning, and the wind remained light from the east throughout the day. It was, however, another quiet day on the bird front, with the more notable sightings including: eleven Whimbrels around the narrows, a Garden Warbler and a Tree Pipit in the withies and a couple Buzzards on the mountain.

A couple Heart and Darts (top), a single Shuttle-shaped Dart (middle) and a Rush Veneer were the highlights of last night's moth trapping session. (c) Ben Porter
