Tuesday 18 October 2011

The wind veered around to the North-west during the night, which brought the temperatures down by a few degrees. The highlights from out to sea throughout the whole day amounted to: two Great Northern Divers, 15 Brent Geese, a Common Scoter, six Golden Plovers, six Dunlins, a Grey Phalarope, 11  Pomarine Skuas, 12 Arctic Skuas, a Long-tailed Skua, seven Great Skuas, three Mediterranean Gulls, two Little Gulls, nine Arctic Terns and a Puffin. Very little of any note was seen passerine-wise, although a Wheatear was seen along the coast, and a Fiedfare and a Great Tit sought shelter in the island’s gardens.
