Fewer birds were seen out to sea today, although a decent selection of species was logged in the brisk north-westerly wind during the day: a Great Northern Diver, two Leach’s Petrels, 12 Pomarine Skuas, seven Arctic Skuas, three Great Skuas and three Mediterranean Gulls were the highlights from out to sea. A few more migrants were also around inland: three Song Thrushes and four Redwings fed on the ground, four Chiffchaffs and three Goldcrests sheltered in the gardens, whilst 17 Chaffinches, four Greenfinches, two Siskins, four Goldfinches and five Lesser Redpolls passed overhead.
