It was a very sunny day with calm winds, making for pleasant birding conditions. The first Greater-spotted Woodpecker this year was discovered in the pines near Ty Nesaf early morning, and was again seen in the Plantation later on. The only other birds of note included a Grey Heron, three Common Sandpipers and two Black-headed Gulls  around the Narrows at high tide.

In other news, there have been daily sightings of up to 17 Diamond-back Moths in the lowland areas, whilst good numbers of Silver-Ys are also present each day.

 Juvenile Greater-spotted Woodpecker
At least one of the pairs of Little Owls have reared chicks this year with one or two juveniles seen above Plas
Almost 50 Puffins were seen on the east side yesterday
Although it has been a quieter couple of days in the moth traps, the first Ruby Tiger (upper) of the year was trapped, and an Agapeta hamana was found in Cristin, which is surprisingly only the third record of this common moth on the island
