March ended on a blustery note, with winds gusting to 40mph during the afternoon. An adult Glaucous Gull flying south over the Narrows in the late afternoon was the most noteworthy sighting of the day. Attention focussed seaward was rewarded with six Fulmars, 67 Manx Shearwaters, 28 Gannets, a Purple Sandpiper, 76 Kittiwakes, 61 Guillemots and 24 Razorbills. Inland, there were very few passerines braving the strong winds, although 171 Meadow Pipits, two Chiffchaffs and nine Goldcrests were recorded.
