A day that started with very promising conditions- low cloud cover, mist and low winds- proved disappointingly quiet. It nevertheless turned into a very pleasant day, with a handful of sightings to mention. Singles of Sanderling, Ringed Plover, Whimbrel and Curlew were recorded around The Narrows, whilst another good count of three Cuckoos inland included a singing male, which was also interacting with a passing female. A single Swifts, 155 Swallows and 31 House Martins passed north over the island, whilst a Tree Pipit, Grey Wagtail, 10 Sedge Warblers, six Whitethroats, two Blackcaps, 12 Chiffchaffs and 10 Spotted Flycatchers were other passerines of note.
